This the 111th annual exhibition opens on Wednesday 7th April closing on Saturday 17th April. The opening times are from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily. It closes at 3 .00 p.m. on the final day.
The exhibition features a rich and diverse range of paintings and drawings which give full expression to the remarkable flexibility of Pastel and other dry media in an exciting way. Within the collection of paintings on display is a `Mini Exhibition’ of distinguished painters who use pastel on a regular basis. A group of Royal Academicians such as Kenneth Draper, Antony Eyton and Tom Phillips will exhibit alongside two artists with a growing international reputation; Rose Hilton and Andrew Hemingway.
This year the exhibitors are drawn from a wide geographical range. Scotland has two representatives including the 2010 winner of the prestigious Aspect Prize, the premier award for Scottish Artists. Both are non-members. Another non-member whose work is exhibited has recently had a painting selected by a major budget airline to be used on the fold-down trays in front of the passenger seats in all its aircraft. One long time member of the Pastel Society has a collection of over 60 paintings in a private collection which will be going on display to the general public in Southern France in July. There are five of this artists paintings on display in the exhibition. One could go on, but to fully appreciate the diversity of the paintings and drawings on display put a date in your diary to visit this unique exhibition.
During the exhibition there will be a variety of activities which will add considerably to one’s enjoyment.

Other Events
During the course of the Annual exhibition a number of events and activities, in addition to the Workshops will be held in the Mall Gallery.
On Thursday 8th April, Ann Wilkinson, a popular workshop Tutor and prize winning Pastel society member will demonstrate her Pastel Painting techniques starting at 11 a.m.
The Friends’ Evening will also be held on the 8th April . Full details will be posted at a later date.
Roy Wright, a prize winner at the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition and a Pastel Society Member will demonstrate his Charcoal Drawing Techniques on Tuesday, 13th April from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.
Moira Huntly, Past President of the Pastel Society will give a Conducted Gallery Tour on Thursday, 15th April starting at 11.30 a.m.
The Art Event Evening will be held on Thursday 15th April starting at 6.00 p.m. until 8.30 p.m. Admission £ 7.50 payable at the door ( concession £ 5.00, including Pastel Society and FBA Friends ). Members of the Pastel Society will demonstrate their different drawing and painting techniques with dry media. Further details of the evening activities will be published at a later date. Post Card sized `original works’ donated by members will be on sale during this event as part of the Pastel Society Fund Raising Activity.
A member of the Pastel Society will be in attendance in the gallery throughout the Exhibition to answer questions . Please check at the reception desk in the Gallery for the list of members present.
