Pastel Society Members Workshops


March 25 – 29 West Dean College, West Sussex EXPRESSIVE PASTEL PAINTING – A Mixed Media Approach In this course I plan to focus on mark making and optical colour mixing

April 14 – 18 Coombe Farm Studios, South Devon DISCOVER COLOUR IN THE LANDSCAPE – Soft Pastel and Mixed Media I will focus on moving away from representational colour towards personal interpretation of the landscape.

June 19 – 13 Coombe Farm Studios, South Devon PASTEL WITHOUT BOUNDARIES – A Mixed Media Approach I’ll be showing methods to achieve expressive mark making with pastel as the primary medium within mixed media.

September 8 – 12 West Dean College, West Sussex EXPRESSIVE MARK MAKING – Pastel with Mixed Media We will focus on expressive mark making methods with soft pastel incorporated with mixed media.

Both venues are very special. They are residential, and set within great landscape painting opportunities.
We paint in the studio having collected sketches and information in the landscape.

Dave runs regular pastel workshops for both beginners and improvers at his home, fabulous
Glasfryn Hall, Caerwys, Flintshire CH7 5AF. 

All materials, lunch and refreshments are provided.

The venue is also home to Oriel Glasfryn Gallery (, which opened in 2022 and has fast become one of the leading art galleries in Wales.

Beginners 16th, 22nd and 29th June
