Artist's Statement:

“I try to create a feeling of atmosphere and mood. My paintings are now more abstract and less representational. I am more interested in developing the application of the painting medium, the juxtaposition of colour and tone and the shapes that form whilst painting. The beauty of Pastel is that it requires no drying time, it is an instant and direct form of painting using pure ground pigment”.

Keith owes a lot to his former Art teachers; David Paton and Tony Bartl.
Keith's paintings are mainly landscapes, The Solent, Fens, North East coast and river estuaries are of a particular interest for him. He paints in Pastel but also uses Oil and Gouache. The main objective for him is to create a feeling of mood and atmosphere in the picture through colour, shape and in particular the application of pastel or paint on the paper or canvas. The sky and weather are also a feature in the creation of mood and sensitivity.
