BOB LAST PS MSIAD

1932 - 2020

It is with great sadness that we write about our wonderful long standing Member, Council Member, past Vice President and friend Bob Last who died peacefully on Wednesday 21st October after becoming ill earlier this year. He will be missed in so many ways, not just for his outstanding work, but for his generosity and kindness. Bob was truly a lovely man and a gentleman.

Bob was always prepared to try something new and when he did, the result was always perfection. Nothing less than perfection would have been good enough for Bob.

Bob studied at Sutton School of Art, gaining an NDD in Illustration and Lithography.

Bob served two years National Service. During that time he was able to attend Norwich Art School.

After National Service, Bob went freelance for a period of time. He then worked for a London based exhibition Design Unit for three years and it was during this period, in 1962, that he was awarded Membership of the Society of Industrial Artists and Designers.

Returning to freelance design for the next thirty-five years, he had work displayed all over the world - with major companies such as Shell International, Royal Doulton, BP America, Racal Electronics, Gibbs, De Beers, British Plastics, Pearsons and many more.

Bob became a Member of the Pastel Society in 2001.
Vice President from 2008 -2011.
